Peoria survives Columbus comeback, wins 3-2

The Peoria Rivermen, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Columbus Cottonmouths and clinched a 3-2 victory.

Peoria led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Rivermen's Steve Morra scored at 19:11 in the first period to put Peoria up 3-0.

The 31 shots that the Rivermen put on net surpassed Peoria's average of 22.3 shots per game this season.

The Rivermen were helped by Parker Stanfield, who registered one goal. Stanfield scored 4:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Peoria also got a goal from Taylor Larsen as well. In addition, Peoria received assists from Adam Hartley, Garrett Vermeersch, Charlie Carkin, and Tyler Amburgey, who contributed one each.

Peoria was unable to stop Columbus from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cottonmouths eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Columbus was helped by Dan Bremner, who tallied one goal. Bremner scored 2:25 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Peoria. Jason Gray picked up the assist. Tom Maldonado also scored for Columbus. Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were Jordan Draper, who had one.

Kyle Rank made 29 saves for the Rivermen on 31 shots. Peoria totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Rivermen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Larsen was ejected from the game. Andrew Loewen rejected 28 shots on goal for the Cottonmouths. Columbus incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
