Knoxville falls to Pensacola in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Corey Banfield gave the Pensacola Ice Flyers a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears when he scored 1:15 into the extra period.

Banfield had a great game for Pensacola, netting two goals.

The Ice Flyers stifled Knoxville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 34 shots that Pensacola put on net surpassed the Ice Flyers' average of 24.9 shots per game this season.

Pensacola also got points from Joshua Turnbull, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Pensacola came via Justin Alonzo, Ryan Salvis, and John Dunbar, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Bears' offense rang up 35 shots on Pensacola's net.

Knoxville was helped by Berkley Scott, who tallied two goals. Scott scored the first of his two goals at 11:26 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ben Power assisted on the tally. Scott's next tally made the score 2-2 with 8:27 left in the third period. Francis Drolet picked up the assist.

The Ice Flyers' Ross MacKinnon stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Pensacola totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Cody Rosen made 31 saves for the Ice Bears on 34 shots. Knoxville totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
