Bloomington boosted by OBrien's play in net, beats Peoria 2-1Bloomington Tue, Feb 11, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
BJ OBrien had a standout game with 29 saves, and the Bloomington Thunder beat the Peoria Rivermen 2-1. Bloomington was sparked by Reid MacLeod, who grabbed one goal. MacLeod scored 12:38 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Bloomington. Travis Granbois provided the assist. The Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Peoria to score on any of its four power plays. By firing 29 shots on goal, Bloomington exceeded the 20.9 shots it averages per game this year. Bloomington also got a goal from Bobby Watson as well. More assists for Bloomington came via Curtis Megginson, Dennis Sicard, and Paul DAgostino, who each chipped in one. The Rivermen put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.3 they average per game. Peoria was led by Dean Yakura, who scored the team's only goal. Yakura scored 19:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Parker Stanfield picked up the assist. The Thunder totaled 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Eric Levine made 27 saves for the Rivermen on 29 shots. Peoria ended with 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. For the Rivermen, Aaron McGill was ejected from the game.
