Pensacola downs Bloomington in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Pensacola Ice Flyers' Joe Caveney scored 19:08 into overtime to beat the Bloomington Thunder, 3-2 (OT).

Joshua Turnbull was all over the ice for Pensacola, as he racked up two goals in the win. Turnbull found the back of the net 4:52 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Pensacola and again while 42 seconds into the fourth to make the score 4-2 Pensacola.

The Ice Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. By firing 51 shots on goal, Pensacola exceeded the 27.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Pensacola also got points from Caveney, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Pensacola came via Malcolm Lyles, Shaun Arvai, and Corey Banfield, who contributed one a piece.

Bloomington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Ice Flyers to score on any of their six power plays. With 27 shots on target during the contest, the Thunder exceeded the 21.5 shots they average per game this year. The defense for Bloomington played an important role offensively, racking up 11 shots on goal.

The Thunder were helped by Nic Polaski, who finished with one goal. Polaski scored 8:36 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. Travis Granbois also scored for Bloomington. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington were Paul Arnott Jr, who had one.

Ross MacKinnon rejected 25 shots on goal for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Bloomington's Max Strang stopped 48 shots out of the 51 that he faced. The Thunder incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
