Peoria outlasts Knoxville, 3-2Peoria Civic Center Fri, Jan 24, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Peoria Rivermen and the Knoxville Ice Bears was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Peoria emerged with a 3-2 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Steve Morra at 15:03 of the third period. Morra had a great game for the Rivermen, netting two goals. Peoria's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Knoxville power plays. The Rivermen put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.1 they average per game. Adam Feniak also scored for Peoria. In addition, Peoria received assists from Garrett Vermeersch, who had two and Taylor Larsen, Jeremiah Ketts, Tyler Amburgey, and Justin Gvora, who each chipped in one. By firing 31 shots on goal, Knoxville exceeded the 25.3 shots it averages per game this year. The Ice Bears could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Knoxville was helped by David Segal, who tallied one goal. Segal scored 2:29 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Peter Neal picked up the assist. Knoxville also got a goal from Ben Power as well. More assists for Knoxville came via Tom Craig, who had one. Kyle Rank recorded 29 saves for Peoria. The Rivermen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Ice Bears' Bryan Hince stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced.
