A stellar performance between the pipes by Eric Levine helped the Peoria Rivermen defeat the Knoxville Ice Bears, 4-1. Peoria was sparked by Garrett Vermeersch, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Vermeersch scored on the power play 4:35 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Peoria. A slashing penalty on Jeremy Klaver had put the Rivermen on the power play. Joe Schiller picked up the assist. Peoria excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Rivermen's offense was clicking better than usual and put 34 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.1 shots per game they average. Peoria also got points from Nick Prockow, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Peoria included Taylor Larsen and Justin Gvora, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Tyler Amburgey, who had two and Jeremiah Ketts and Charlie Carkin, who each chipped in one. The Knoxville penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and two majors for 50 minutes in penalty time. The Ice Bears surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Knoxville put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.3 it averages per game. The Ice Bears were led by Francis Drolet, who scored the team's only goal. Drolet scored 17:56 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ben Power assisted on the tally. Peoria's Levine stopped 30 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Rivermen totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-11 on the power play. Cody Rosen made 30 saves for Knoxville on 34 shots. The Ice Bears ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brad Pawlowski was ejected from the game.
