Fayetteville's Toy deadly on offense in 3-1 win against Bloomington

Corey Toy was all over the ice for the Fayetteville FireAntz, as he tallied two goals in Fayetteville's 3-1 win over the Bloomington Thunder.

Toy found the back of the net 9:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 17:03 into the second to make the score 3-1 Fayetteville.

The FireAntz were led by goalie Peter Skoggard, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Skoggard will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.64.

Fayetteville's penalty kill excelled, as the FireAntz gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Fayetteville stifled Bloomington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The FireAntz's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The 33 shots that Fayetteville put on net surpassed the FireAntz's average of 28.4 shots per game this season.

Fayetteville also got a goal from Nick Craven as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Matt Ridley, who had two and John Clewlow, Corey Tamblyn, Brandon Richardson, and Tommy Lange, who each chipped in one.

The Thunder managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Bloomington ended up below its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game. The Thunder's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 16 shots between them. Bloomington forced Fayetteville goalie Skoggard to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Thunder were led by Dennis Sicard, who scored the team's only goal. Sicard scored 3:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bloomington. Brandon Hew picked up the assist.

The FireAntz incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Breton Lindoff recorded 30 saves for Bloomington.
