The Huntsville Havoc beat the Pensacola Ice Flyers, 5-3, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Huntsville took over the lead for good with a goal by Nick Lazorko at 8:52 in the first period. Josh Harris provided the assist.The Havoc got the win on the strength of a great game by Stuart Stefan, who had two goals and two assists. Stefan scored the first of his two goals at 13:45 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Huntsville. Lazorko picked up the assist. Stefan's next tally made the score 5-3 Huntsville with two seconds left in the third period. Sam Cannata provided the assist. The 32 shots that Huntsville put on net surpassed the Havoc's average of 27.1 shots per game this season. Huntsville additionally got points from Lazorko, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Ray Ortiz as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Leland Fidler and Mike Gurtler, who contributed one a piece. Pensacola excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.
