Mississippi Surge came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Louisiana IceGators, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory. Mississippi Surge led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Mississippi Surge's Jeff Martens's scored at 4:09 in the third period to put Mississippi Surge up 4-1. Mississippi Surge was led by Jordan Peddle, who had one goal. Peddle scored on the power play 19:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Mississippi Surge. A tripping penalty on Tyler Barr had put Mississippi Surge on the power play. Nicholas Kuqali assisted on the tally. In a losing effort, Louisiana was paced by Barr, who racked up two goals. Barr scored the first of his two goals at 15:02 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi Surge. Barr's next tally made the score 4-3 Mississippi Surge with 10:28 left in the third period. Josh Duplantis provided the assist. Mississippi Surge's offense was clicking better than usual and put 27 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.0 shots per game it averages. Mississippi Surge also got points from Anthony Battaglia, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mississippi Surge also got a goal from Kyle Kudroch as well. More assists for Mississippi Surge came via Dean Moore, who had two and Brad Barber, Ian Boots, and Mark Thorburn, who contributed one a piece. With 45 shots on target during the contest, the IceGators exceeded the 24.9 shots they average per game this year. Chris Wilson also scored for Louisiana. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Tyler Lyon, Shawn McNeil, and Jordan Braid, who each chipped in one. Mathieu Dugas made 43 saves for Mississippi Surge on 45 shots. Mississippi Surge incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matt Zenzola rejected 23 shots on goal for Louisiana. The IceGators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
