Skoggard, Fayetteville blank Huntsville, 6-0

Peter Skoggard recorded a shutout against the Huntsville Havoc as the Fayetteville FireAntz picked up a 6-0 win.

Fayetteville's penalty kill excelled, as the FireAntz gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Fayetteville stifled Huntsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The FireAntz outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Fayetteville averages 2.5 goals per contest. By firing 31 shots on goal, the FireAntz exceeded the 26.3 shots they average per game this year.

Fayetteville was helped by Brandon Richardson, who had one goal and one assist. Richardson scored 10:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Matt Smyth assisted on the tally. Fayetteville also got points from John Clewlow, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Smyth, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Chris Greene, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Fayetteville included Bobby Reed and Kyle McNeil, who each put in one. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Brett Liscomb, who had two and Mike Kavanagh, Derek Elliott, Evan Chlanda, Nick Craven, and Brandon Greenside, who contributed one a piece.

The Havoc's offense operated below they season average. Huntsville puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. With 54 shots on target during the contest, the Havoc exceeded the 29.6 shots they average per game this year.

Huntsville was led by Nick Lazorko, who took nine shots.

Peter Skoggard made 54 saves for the FireAntz on 54 shots. Fayetteville totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Kevin Genoe took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Jesse Kallechy who made eight saves. The Havoc ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
