Hince stymies Fayetteville, Knoxville wins 4-1Knoxville Civic Coliseum Mon, Dec 30, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Bryan Hince helped the Knoxville Ice Bears defeat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 4-1. Knoxville was led by Francis Drolet, who had one goal. Drolet scored on the power play 17:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Knoxville. The Ice Bears had gotten the advantage when Fayetteville's Nick Craven was sent off for boarding. Mark Van Vliet provided the assist. Knoxville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the FireAntz to score on any of their five power plays. The Ice Bears' offense was clicking better than usual and put 31 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.0 shots per game they average. Knoxville also got points from Ben Power, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Ben Souders, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cody Dion also scored for Knoxville. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Jon Higgins, who had two and Jason Price, Eric Satim, and Brett Valliquette, who each chipped in one. With 29 shots on target during the contest, Fayetteville exceeded the 25.2 shots it averages per game this year. The FireAntz were led by Bobby Reed, who scored the team's only goal. Reed scored 2:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Knoxville. John Clewlow picked up the assist. Knoxville's Hince stopped 28 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Ice Bears totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Peter Skoggard recorded 27 saves for Fayetteville. The FireAntz ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
