Pensacola downs Louisiana in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Joshua Turnbull gave the Pensacola Ice Flyers a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Louisiana IceGators when he scored 1:17 into the extra period.

Pensacola was paced by Turnbull, who had one goal and one assist.

The Ice Flyers put 39 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.3 they average per game.

Others who scored for Pensacola included Justin Alonzo and Adam Pawlick, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Shaun Arvai, Brett Lutes, Corey Banfield, and John Dunbar, who each chipped in one.

Louisiana's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the IceGators finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Louisiana was helped by Bret Peppler, who registered one goal. Peppler scored on the power play 9:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The IceGators had taken the advantage when Pensacola's Steve Whitely got sent off for cross checking. Matthew Robertson assisted on the tally. Jason Cohen also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via Clark Byczynski, Tyler Lyon, and Shawn McNeil, who contributed one a piece.

The Ice Flyers' Ross MacKinnon stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Pensacola incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kiefer Smiley rejected 36 shots on goal for Louisiana. The IceGators registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
