The Fayetteville FireAntz used a sparkling performance by Peter Skoggard to take down the Pensacola Ice Flyers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Fayetteville's 3-0 shutout victory. The FireAntz's penalty kill excelled, as Fayetteville gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The FireAntz stifled Pensacola's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fayetteville failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 19 pucks on goal after averaging 26.3 shots per game this season. The FireAntz's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Ice Flyers. Fayetteville allows 2.9 goals per game. The FireAntz could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Fayetteville was helped by John Clewlow, who finished with one goal. Clewlow scored short handed 4:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. The FireAntz were on a disadvantage when Aaron McGill went off the ice for charging. Chris Greene provided the assist. Fayetteville additionally got points from Bobby Reed, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kyle McNeil also scored for Fayetteville.
