Bloomington pulls away in second, rolls over Mississippi Surge, 5-1Bloomington Fri, Dec 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Mississippi Surge allowed the Bloomington Thunder to net three goals during the second period and fell, 5-1. Bloomington's BJ OBrien was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of OBrien will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.82. The Thunder got the win thanks to a great game by Burke Gallimore, who had two goals and one assist. Gallimore scored the first of his two goals at 9:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bloomington. Dennis Sicard picked up the assist. Gallimore's next tally made the score 5-1 Bloomington with 14:25 left in the third period. Pat Schafer provided the assist. Bloomington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Thunder's offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.9 shots per game they average. Bloomington's goal total was higher than its season average. The Thunder average 2.8 goals per game. Bloomington additionally got points from Sicard, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Bloomington included Travis Granbois and Tyler Noseworthy, who each put in one. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Kevin Walrod, who had two and Ron Cramer and Paul DAgostino, who each chipped in one. Mississippi Surge was led by Tommy Lange, who took five shots. Bloomington totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Dan Clarke took the loss and made 12 saves before being replaced by Mathieu Dugas who made 12 saves. Mississippi Surge ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
