Fayetteville rolls over xLouisiana, 4-1

The xLouisiana IceGators had trouble finding ways to stop the Fayetteville FireAntz, which beat IceGators, 4-1.

xLouisiana's power play was ineffective against Fayetteville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The FireAntz were sparked by Chris Greene, who registered one goal. Greene scored on the power play 8:12 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Fayetteville. Fayetteville had taken the advantage when the IceGators' Chris Wilson got sent off for hooking. Jeff Martens provided the assist.

Fayetteville additionally got points from Matt Ridley, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Fayetteville also had goals scored by Evan Chlanda and Matt Smyth, who scored one goal each. More assists for Fayetteville came via Aaron McGill, who had two and Brandon Richardson and Kyle McNeil, who each chipped in one.

xLouisiana did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The IceGators average 3.5 goals per game. xLouisiana could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The IceGators were led by Jeff Grant, who scored the team's only goal. Grant scored on the power play 16:44 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fayetteville. xLouisiana had gained a power play chance when Brandon Greenside was whistled for tripping. Kirk Byczynski picked up the assist.

The FireAntz's Kyle Rank stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Fayetteville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kiefer Smiley recorded 18 saves for the IceGators.
