The Pensacola Ice Flyers survived a determined comeback attempt by Mississippi RiverKings on the way to a 6-5 win.

Pensacola took a 6-4 lead during the third period, only to have Mississippi RiverKings storm back on a Todd Hosmer goal 13:46 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Joshua Turnbull was all over the ice for the Ice Flyers, as he tallied one goal and four assists in the win. Turnbull scored on the power play 9:27 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Pensacola. Pensacola had taken the advantage when Mississippi RiverKings' Charles LaChance got sent off for slashing. Paul Rodrigues provided the assist.

The Ice Flyers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. Pensacola surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Ice Flyers bested their season scoring average. This season, Pensacola averages 3.5 goals per contest.
