Fayetteville falls to Louisiana in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Louisiana IceGators' Jake Trask scored 1:07 into overtime to beat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 3-2 (OT).

Louisiana came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The IceGators fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Fayetteville's Mike Kavanagh at 14:25 in the first period. Louisiana knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Matthew Robertson at 4:17 in the third period.

The IceGators' penalty kill excelled, as Louisiana gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Louisiana additionally got points from Shawn McNeil, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Chris Wilson, Jeremey Boyer, and Adam Stuart, who each chipped in one.

The FireAntz excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. By firing 34 shots on goal, Fayetteville exceeded the 26.8 shots it averages per game this year.

The FireAntz were helped by Kyle McNeil, who had one goal. McNeil scored 9:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Kevin Kessler picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Jeff Martens, Matt Ridley, and Matt Smyth, who contributed one a piece.

The IceGators' Kiefer Smiley stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Louisiana incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Peter Skoggard rejected 25 shots on goal for Fayetteville. The FireAntz incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
