Louisiana downs Bloomington, 5-2Cajundome Sat, Nov 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Adam Stuart racked up two points to lead the Louisiana IceGators to a 5-2 victory over the Bloomington Thunder. Louisiana's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Bloomington power plays. The IceGators' offense rang up 35 shots on Bloomington's net. Louisiana also got points from Chris Wilson, who also had one goal and one assist. Louisiana also had goals scored by Tyler Lyon, Shawn McNeil, and Bret Peppler, who each put in one. More assists for Louisiana came via Jeff Grant, who had three and Reid MacLeod, Jason Cohen, Matthew Robertson, Peter Cintala, and Kirk Byczynski, who each chipped in one. The Thunder racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. Bloomington surpassed its season average of 32.0 penalty minutes per game. The Thunder's offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.3 shots per game they average. Bloomington was helped by Pat Schafer, who tallied one goal. Schafer scored 3:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bloomington. Tyler Noseworthy assisted on the tally. Travis Granbois also scored for Bloomington. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Paul Arnott Jr, Daniel Barczuk, and Burke Gallimore, who contributed one a piece. Louisiana's Matt Zenzola stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The IceGators totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 3-for-9 on the power play. Max Strang made 30 saves for the Thunder on 34 shots. Bloomington ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Granbois was ejected from the game.
