Rank, Fayetteville blank Columbus, 3-0

Kyle Rank was superb between the pipes for the Fayetteville FireAntz, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths.

Fayetteville was sparked by Brett Liscomb, who tallied one goal. Liscomb scored 18:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Chris Greene picked up the assist.

The FireAntz stifled Columbus' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fayetteville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Brandon Richardson, Nick Craven and John Clewlow took 22 of the team's 43 shots.

Fayetteville additionally got points from Clewlow, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Fayetteville came via Corey Toy and Jeff Martens, who each chipped in one.

The Cottonmouths' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Fayetteville power plays. Columbus was held below its usual level of production. The Cottonmouths put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Columbus was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 22 penalty minutes. The Cottonmouths relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Ian McNulty, Tom Maldonado and Jordan Draper took 15 of the team's 27 shots.

The FireAntz's Rank stopped 27 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Fayetteville ended with 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors. Andrew Loewen made 40 saves for Columbus on 42 shots. The Cottonmouths registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
