Pensacola vanquishes Peoria in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)Peoria Civic Center Fri, Nov 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Ryan Salvis netted the deciding goal for the Pensacola Ice Flyers in the shootout as Ice Flyers prevailed over the Peoria Rivermen, 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams.Pensacola's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Peoria power plays. The Ice Flyers kept Peoria's goalie busy throughout the game, and Eric Levine made 28 saves on 31 shots. Pensacola was helped by John Dunbar, who tallied one goal. Dunbar scored 2:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pensacola. Salvis provided the assist. Pensacola also got a goal from Paul Rodrigues as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Donnie Harris, Joe Caveney, and Steve Bergin, who contributed one a piece. The Rivermen's offense was clicking better than usual and put 37 shots on goal during the game, better than the 29.7 shots per game they average. Peoria was helped by Steve Morra, who had one goal. Morra scored 12:04 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Nick Prockow picked up the assist. Garrett Vermeersch also scored for Peoria. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Charlie Carkin, who had one and Parker Stanfield, who had two. Peter Di Salvo recorded 35 saves for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Rivermen ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major.
