Skoggard stymies Knoxville, Fayetteville wins 2-1Knoxville Civic Coliseum Thu, Nov 21, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Peter Skoggard had a standout game with 25 saves, and the Fayetteville FireAntz beat the Knoxville Ice Bears 2-1. Fayetteville was led by Nick Craven, who finished with one goal. Craven scored 2:56 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Fayetteville. Aaron McGill assisted on the tally. The FireAntz excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The defense for Fayetteville played an important role offensively, racking up 12 shots on goal. Fayetteville also got a goal from Derek Elliott as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Mike Kavanagh, Jeff Martens, and Bobby Reed, who contributed one a piece. Knoxville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the FireAntz to score on any of their four power plays. The Ice Bears did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Knoxville averages 3.2 goals per game. The Ice Bears' defensemen bolstered Knoxville's offensive attack, as they bombarded Skoggard with 11 shots. The Ice Bears were led by Eric Satim, who scored the team's only goal. Satim scored 9:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Phil Bronner picked up the assist. Fayetteville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bryan Hince made 23 saves for Knoxville on 25 shots. The Ice Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
