Mississippi Surge rides Dugas to victory over Pensacola, 2-1

Mathieu Dugas had a standout game with 50 saves, and Mississippi Surge beat the Pensacola Ice Flyers 2-1.

Mississippi Surge was led by Chapen LeBlond, who grabbed one goal. LeBlond scored 8:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi Surge. Joe Tolles picked up the assist.

Mississippi Surge put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pensacola to score on any of its four power plays. Mississippi Surge relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as LeBlond, Kyle Kudroch and Mitch Bruijsten took 12 of the team's 23 shots.

More assists for Mississippi Surge came via Matt Gordon and Jordan Peddle, who contributed one a piece.

The Ice Flyers' offense operated below they season average. Pensacola puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Ice Flyers' offense rang up 51 shots on Mississippi Surge's net.

Pensacola was led by Joe Caveney, who scored the team's only goal. Caveney scored 5:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Paul Rodrigues provided the assist.

Mississippi Surge incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. John Griggs rejected 21 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
