Bloomington wins tough contest against Louisiana, 5-3

The Bloomington Thunder gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Louisiana IceGators.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Burke Gallimore's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Bloomington was led by Gallimore, who registered one goal. Gallimore scored 13:37 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Bloomington. Travis Granbois provided the assist.

The Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Louisiana to score on any of its five power plays. Bloomington put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.5 it averages per game.

Bloomington also got points from Daniel Barczuk, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Dennis Sicard also scored for Bloomington. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington were Kevin Walrod and Nic Polaski, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 45 shots on goal, the IceGators exceeded the 32.5 shots they average per game this year.

Louisiana was led by Adam Stuart, who racked up one goal and one assist. Stuart scored 3:28 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Shawn McNeil picked up the assist. Louisiana additionally got points from McNeil, who also had one goal and one assist. Louisiana also got a goal from Matthew Robertson as well. More assists for Louisiana came via Jake Trask, who had one and Jason Cohen, who had two.

Max Strang rejected 42 shots on goal for the Thunder. Bloomington incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kiefer Smiley recorded 25 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
