Mississippi RiverKings beats Peoria 3-0 as McWhinney gains shutout

Dan McWhinney was superb between the pipes for Mississippi RiverKings, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Peoria Rivermen.

Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill excelled, as Mississippi RiverKings gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

Mississippi RiverKings racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. Mississippi RiverKings had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. Mississippi RiverKings stifled Peoria's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mississippi RiverKings' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Rivermen. Mississippi RiverKings gives up 2.2 goals on average per game.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Daniel Sobotka, who grabbed one goal. Sobotka scored 14:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi RiverKings.
