Knoxville downs Pensacola in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Pensacola Bay Center Sat, Nov 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Knoxville Ice Bears pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Pensacola Ice Flyers on a clutch goal by Jeremy Klaver. Knoxville came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Ice Bears was down 2-0 after a goal by Pensacola's Donnie Harris at 2:08 in the second period. Knoxville knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Cody Dion at 19:08 in the third period. Klaver had a great game for the Ice Bears, netting two goals. Klaver found the back of the net on the power play 8:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola and again while 1:17 into the fourth to make the score 4-3 Knoxville. Knoxville stifled the Ice Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice Bears got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The 33 shots that Knoxville put on net surpassed the Ice Bears' average of 28.0 shots per game this season. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Ben Souders and Francis Drolet, who each chipped in one and Mark Van Vliet and Peter Neal, who contributed two a piece. Pensacola's offense rang up 43 shots on Knoxville's net. The Ice Flyers were led by Joe Caveney, who tallied two goals. Caveney scored the first of his two goals at 19:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Matt Smyth assisted on the tally. Caveney's next tally made the score 3-2 Pensacola with 4:28 left in the second period. Harry Radovich picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Paul Rodrigues, who had two and Joshua Turnbull and Ryan Salvis, who each chipped in one. Bryan Hince rejected 40 shots on goal for the Ice Bears. Knoxville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. John Griggs recorded 29 saves for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
