Travis Bosch made 36 saves to complete the shutout and led the Columbus Cottonmouths to a 5-0 win against the Bloomington Thunder.

Columbus' penalty kill excelled, as the Cottonmouths gave up zero goals despite allowing 12 power plays.

Columbus was paced by Tory Allan, who registered one goal. Allan scored on the power play 13:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Columbus. A hooking penalty on William Lacasse had put the Cottonmouths on the power play. Levi Lind assisted on the tally.

The Columbus penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The Cottonmouths had been averaging 28.0 minutes in penalties per game. Columbus stifled Bloomington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cottonmouths' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. By firing 36 shots on goal, Columbus exceeded the 27.3 shots it averages per game this year.

Others who scored for Columbus included Dan Bremner, who had two and Jason Gray and Chris Bailer, who scored one goal each. In addition, Columbus received assists from Ian McNulty, Will Aide, and Jordan Draper, who each chipped in one and Jordan Braid and Matt Gingera, who contributed two a piece.

The Thunder were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and three majors for 45 minutes in penalty time. Bloomington surpassed its season average of 40.0 penalty minutes per game. The Thunder's offense operated below they season average. Bloomington puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. The Thunder's offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 17 shots on net during the game. Bloomington's offense rang up 36 shots on the Cottonmouths' net.

The Thunder were led by Travis Granbois, who took eight shots.
