Huntsville rolls over Peoria, 7-2

The Huntsville Havoc were firing on all cylinders against the Peoria Rivermen, and when the final buzzer sounded Havoc emerged with a 7-2 win.

Peoria's power play was ineffective against Huntsville's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Havoc were led by Josh Harris, who had one goal. Harris scored on the power play 18:32 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Huntsville. Huntsville had gotten the advantage when the Rivermen's Charlie Carkin was sent off for hooking. Justin Cseter assisted on the tally.

The Havoc racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. Huntsville surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Havoc's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Peoria power plays.

Huntsville also got points from Rob Florentino, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Cseter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Justin Fox, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Huntsville also got a goal from Stuart Stefan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Ray Ortiz, who had two, Mike Gurtler, who had three, and Leland Fidler, Scott Harff, and Matt Singleton, who each chipped in one.

Peoria kept Huntsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jesse Kallechy made 29 saves on 31 shots.

The Rivermen were led by Parker Stanfield, who had one goal. Stanfield scored 17:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Huntsville. Garrett Vermeersch picked up the assist. Ryan Raven also scored for Peoria.

The Havoc registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Peoria's starting goalie, Eric Levine, made 14 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Russ Stein, who stopped four shots. The Rivermen ended with 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors.
