Carriveau's big game bests Bloomington in 6-3 Fayetteville win

Zach Carriveau had two goals and two assists to lead the Fayetteville FireAntz to a 6-3 victory over the Bloomington Thunder.

Carriveau's tallies came on the power play at 8:30 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fayetteville and on the power play 13:37 into the second to make the score 5-2 Fayetteville.

Bloomington's 12 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Thunder let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Fayetteville surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The FireAntz have scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Fayetteville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. By firing 37 shots on goal, the FireAntz exceeded the 21.6 shots they average per game this year.

Fayetteville additionally got points from Brett Liscomb, who also finished with one goal and three assists, Brandon Richardson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Brandon Greenside, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Chris Greene also scored for Fayetteville. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Corey Toy, Bobby Reed, and Nick Craven, who each chipped in one.

Bloomington was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 27 penalty minutes. The 31 shots that the Thunder put on net surpassed Bloomington's average of 21.6 shots per game this season.

The Thunder were helped by Paul DAgostino, who grabbed one goal. DAgostino scored 18:44 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Dennis Sicard assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Bloomington included Kevin Walrod and Matt Puntureri, who each put in one. More assists for Bloomington came via Kyle Watson, who had two and Paul Arnott, Daniel Barczuk, and Tyler Noseworthy, who contributed one a piece.

Kyle Rank made 28 saves for Fayetteville on 31 shots. The FireAntz ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Bloomington's Max Strang stopped 31 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Thunder registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
