Armstrong's big game bests Hanover in 7-6 Wingham winTeeswater CC Sat, Dec 21, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Aaron Armstrong was all over the ice for the Wingham Ironmen, as he tallied four goals and one assist in Wingham's 7-6 win over the Hanover Barons. Armstrong got on the scoresheet 41 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 12:05 into the first, at 13:59 into the first, and at 1:42 into the second.The Ironmen's penalty kill excelled, as Wingham gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Ironmen stifled Hanover's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wingham's offense rang up 41 shots on the Barons' net. Wingham also got points from Jamie Huber, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. Travis Donaldson also scored for Wingham. In addition, Wingham received assists from Justin Jacklin, who had one, Keaton Willis, who had two, and Brett Brophy, who had four. Hanover kept the Ironmen's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jaden Shrier made 30 saves on 36 shots. The Barons outdid their season average for goals scored. Hanover has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Barons were led by Denver Hill, who had two goals and one assist. Hill scored the first of his two goals at 10:56 into the second period to make the score 5-2 Wingham. Tyson Soers assisted on the tally. Hill's next tally made the score 5-5 with 6:34 left in the second period. Hanover additionally got points from Jarrett Kuntz, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Hanover included Chris Hardy, Andrew Scott, and Brad Piit, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hanover were Justin Graham, who had two. Wingham incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ben Errington made 34 saves for Hanover on 41 shots. The Barons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
