Jaden Shrier recorded a shutout against the Hanover Barons as the Wingham Ironmen picked up a 7-0 win. Wingham pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. The Ironmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Wingham forced Hanover goalie Cam Harron to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Ironmen's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Wingham was helped by Greg Scott, who had one goal. Scott scored 16:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wingham. Wingham additionally got points from Matt McCracken, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Brett Brophy, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Jamie Huber, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Alex Kuntz, who also registered two goals and one assist. Justin Jacklin also scored for Wingham. In addition, Wingham received assists from Jordie Schneider, Connor Johnson, Aaron Armstrong, and Jeremy Ross, who each chipped in one. The Barons could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Hanover averages 3.1 goals per game. The Ironmen's Shrier stopped 30 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Wingham registered one goal on one power play opportunities. Cam Harron made 30 saves for the Barons on 37 shots. Hanover incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
