Walkerton beats Wingham 7-2 as Davidson gets hat trick

Drew Davidson lifted the Walkerton Hawks to a 7-2 victory with a hat trick against the Wingham Ironmen.

Davidson notched his first tally 5:42 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:48 into the first and at 11:15 into the third.

Walkerton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Hawks' offense rang up 41 shots on Wingham's net.

Walkerton additionally got points from Joel Bowman, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Brennon Pearce, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Walkerton also had goals scored by Tyler Snyder and Josh Perdue, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Walkerton were Jay Thomson, David Gallo, and Lauchlin Elder, who each chipped in one and Nathan Kramer, Calvin Penney, and Brandon Lamothe, who contributed two a piece.

The Ironmen did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Wingham averages 5.2 goals per game.

The Ironmen were helped by Ryan McNeil, who racked up one goal. McNeil scored 24 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wingham. Keaton Willis picked up the assist. Wingham also got a goal from Brett Brophy as well. In addition, Wingham received assists from Alex Kuntz, who had one.

Trevor Fleming made 22 saves for Walkerton on 24 shots. The Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jaden Shrier rejected 34 shots on goal for Wingham. The Ironmen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
