Hughson's hat trick boosts Mount Forest over Wingham, 6-4

The Wingham Ironmen could not stop the Mount Forest Patriots' Trevor Hughson, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-4 win.

Hughson's first goal came 10:36 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:22 into the second and at 16:31 into the third.

Mount Forest made Wingham's goaltenders to work all game long, taking 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Jaden Shrier made 20 stops and Keegan Woodman made 10.

Mount Forest additionally got points from Doug Ardis, who also had two goals and two assists and Ben Davis, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Cody Wright, who had one and Dean Nixon, who had two.

The Ironmen forced the Patriots goalie John Nixon to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Wingham was led by Travis Donaldson, who racked up one goal and two assists. Donaldson scored 4:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wingham. Blake Pickering assisted on the tally. Wingham also had goals scored by Jamie Huber, Alex Kuntz, and Jeremy Ross, who each put in one. More assists for Wingham came via Jordie Schneider, who had one and Brett Brophy, who had two.

Nixon recorded 36 saves for Mount Forest. The Patriots incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Ironmen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
