Stulp's hat trick boosts Wingham over Kincardine, 7-4

A hat trick by Ryan Stulp was the highlight in Ironmen's 7-4 win against the Kincardine Bulldogs.

Stulp notched his first tally 10:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:28 into the second and at 5:34 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:06 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The the Wingham Ironmen penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Wingham had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Ironmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Wingham kept Kincardine's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitch Campbell made 36 saves on 43 shots. The Ironmen found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Wingham has scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Wingham also got points from Aaron Armstrong, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Justin Jacklin also scored for Wingham. More assists for Wingham came via Brody Tenpas and Jamie Huber, who each chipped in one and Brett Brophy and Jeremy Ross, who contributed two a piece.

The Bulldogs racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game Kincardine had been spending in the box. The Bulldogs forced the Ironmen goalie Nathan Watson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Kincardine's penalty kill unit could not stop Wingham's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.

The Bulldogs were helped by Luke Czuczman, who racked up one goal. Czuczman scored 6:28 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Wingham. Jamie Miller picked up the assist. Kincardine additionally got points from Cody Britton, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kincardine also got a goal from Chad Simpson as well. In addition, Kincardine received assists from Tanner Simpson and Lucas Johnson, who each chipped in one.

Watson recorded 27 saves for the Ironmen. For Wingham, Jordie Schneider was ejected from the game. For Kincardine, Brock Pinnell and Paul Lamont were ejected from the contest.
