Culley lifts Schomberg over Orillia, 5-2

Behind a great game by Blake Culley, who had two goals, the Schomberg Cougars defeated the Orillia Terriers, 5-2.

Culley found the back of the net 13:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Schomberg and again while short handed 8:31 into the second to make the score 3-1 Schomberg.

Schomberg's offense rang up 50 shots on Orillia's net. The Cougars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game.

Schomberg also had goals scored by Joel Wright AP, Arran Macdonald, and Bobby Quinn, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Schomberg were John Gage, who had two and Kiefer McIntosh, JP Crescenzi, Colton Wood, Declan Lampe, Brandon Yorke, and Tyler Simmons, who contributed one a piece.

The Terriers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Orillia could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Terriers were led by Andreas Alexiou, who had one goal and one assist. Alexiou scored on the power play 16:38 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Schomberg. A head contact penalty on Quinn had put Orillia on the power play. Josh Allan provided the assist. Orillia also got a goal from Jason Binnie as well. In addition, Orillia received assists from Ryan Tucci, who had one.

Taylor Ewart made 19 saves for Schomberg on 21 shots. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nicholas Chaykowsky was ejected from the game. Gordie Weiss recorded 45 saves for the Terriers. Orillia registered two goals on 12 power play opportunities. For the Terriers, Zac Hele was ejected from the game.
