Murray lifts Fergus over Huntsville, 6-2

Behind a great game by James Murray, who had four goals, the Fergus Devils defeated the Huntsville Otters, 6-2.

Murray notched his first tally zero seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 1:45 into the first, at 17:48 into the first, and at 18:05 into the second.

Fergus managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Devils wound up below its season average of 29.0 penalty minutes per game. Fergus forced Huntsville goalie Connor Christianson to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. The Devils bested their season scoring average. Fergus averages 3.6 goals per game.

Fergus additionally got points from Mackenzie Cleveland, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Fergus also got a goal from Cole Bradley as well. In addition, Fergus received assists from Joshua Machesney, who had one, Dustin Scheer, who had two, and Robert Ebach and Griffin Heitshu, who each chipped in three.

The Otters were helped by Jay Dix, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Dix scored 1:24 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fergus. Jake McIntyre assisted on the tally. Huntsville also got points from McIntyre, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Brock Heshka, who had two.

Alex Elliott rejected 18 shots on goal for the Devils. Fergus registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Christianson recorded 38 saves for Huntsville. The Otters avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays.
