Scanlan's big game bests Orillia in 9-2 Penetang win

Behind a great game by Jack Scanlan, who had two goals and two assists, the Penetang Kings defeated the Orillia Terriers, 9-2.

Scanlan scored at 11:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Penetang and again while on the power play 16:31 into the second to make the score 4-1 Penetang.

Penetang forced Terriers' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 49 shots and forcing 40 saves. Gordie Weiss made 29 stops and Alyssa Moyer made 11. The Kings surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Penetang has scored at the pace of 5.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Penetang also got points from Matt Meher, who also registered one goal and one assist and Matt Fischer, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Sammy Gagnon also scored for Penetang. In addition, Penetang received assists from Kyle Burns, Mackenzie Bumstead, and Jesse Moreau, who contributed one a piece and Myles York, Craig Robinson, and Ryan Young, who each chipped in two.

Orillia was led by Daniel Lee, who had one goal. Lee scored 2:03 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Orillia also got a goal from Jake Shaw as well.

Andrew Best rejected 23 shots on goal for the Kings. Penetang incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Terriers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
