Sguigna's hat trick boosts Erin over Penetang, 6-4

Josh Sguigna netted a hat trick to lead the Erin Shamrocks over the Penetang Kings, 6-4.

Sguigna notched his first tally 15:41 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:18 into the second and at 11:07 into the second.

Erin found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Shamrocks have scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Josh Tremblay also scored for Erin. In addition, Erin received assists from Darcy Hackett, who had two, Chris Grenier, who had three, and Patrick Reay, Connor Mortimer, and Liam Adamson, who each chipped in one.

Penetang's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Erin power plays.

The Kings were led by Jack Scanlan, who registered two goals. Scanlan scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:38 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Penetang had taken the advantage when Erin's Adamson got sent off for head contact. Matt Fischer picked up the assist. Scanlan's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Penetang with 19:32 left in the third period. Kyle Burns assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Penetang included Ryan Young and Michael Paul, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Nate Archer, Myles York, Brayden Laurin, and Mac Flewelling, who contributed one a piece.

Tom Denstedt made 15 saves for the Shamrocks on 19 shots. Erin incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Adam Redgate rejected 18 shots on goal for the Kings. Penetang incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
