Binnie nets hat trick, leads Orillia to 7-2 win over Huntsville

Jason Binnie lifted the Orillia Terriers to a 7-2 victory with a hat trick against the Huntsville Otters.

Binnie's first goal came 4:18 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:04 into the second and at 9:07 into the third.

Orillia's penalty kill excelled, as the Terriers gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

Orillia stifled Huntsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Otters were unable to stop the Terriers from sending pucks towards the net, and Orillia eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Terriers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Orillia averages 3.5 goals per game. The Terriers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Orillia also got points from Nathan Beers, who also finished with two goals and two assists. Others who scored for Orillia included Marty Lawlor and Josh Richardson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Orillia received assists from Josh Allan, who had two, Jake Shaw, who had three, and Ryan Tucci, Zac Hele, and Hunter Makey, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville forced Terriers' goalies to work in net, totaling 31 shots and forcing 29 saves. Gordie Weiss made 24 stops and Alyssa Moyer made five.

The Otters were helped by Travis Armour, who grabbed one goal. Armour scored 1:44 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Orillia. Matt Janke assisted on the tally. Trayvon Henry also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Bryan Austin and Connor Christianson, who contributed one a piece.

Orillia registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Connor Christianson made 27 saves for Huntsville on 34 shots. The Otters incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
