Caledon beats Erin 9-2 as Klomp gets hat trick

Steven Klomp lifted the Caledon Golden Hawks to a 9-2 victory with a hat trick against the Erin Shamrocks.

Klomp got on the scoresheet 9:54 into the second period. He then added goals at 14:53 into the second and at 19:47 into the third.

Caledon's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Erin power plays. The Golden Hawks bested their season scoring average. Caledon has scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Caledon also got points from Christian Bonaldi, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Nicholas McNutt, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Caledon included Derek Czech, who had two and James Pitsadiotas and Chris Smith, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Caledon were Daniel Cafagna, who had two, Justin Lollini, who had three, and Rocky Furfari, Adam Breen, Brett Bloor, and Cody Forgione, who contributed one a piece.

Chris Vellucci recorded 20 saves for the Golden Hawks. Caledon incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Erin's starting goalie, Tom Denstedt, made seven saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Mark Terry, who stopped two shots. The Shamrocks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
