Stayner uses shootout to best Caledon, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Stayner Siskins defeated the Caledon Golden Hawks in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. Stayner's other shootout goal was scored by Jeff Hamm.

The Siskins overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Stayner trailed 2-0 after a goal by Caledon's Steve Zeppieri at 11:52 in the first period. The Siskins tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Daniel Cafagna at 12:28 in the third period.

Ricky Darrell had two goals to lead Stayner to victory. Darrell's tallies came at 19:18 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Caledon and 8:07 into the third to make the score 3-2 Stayner.

The Siskins forced the Golden Hawks goalie Eric Pitcher to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Cooper Martin also scored for Stayner. Other players who recorded assists for Stayner were Brett Gauthier, who had one.

Caledon also got a goal from Steven Klomp as well. In addition, Caledon received assists from Patrick Savella, who had one and Rocky Furfari and Christian Bonaldi, who each chipped in two.

Aaron Taylor rejected 27 shots on goal for Stayner. The Siskins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Pitcher recorded 39 saves for Caledon. The Golden Hawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
