Midland's Hermelyn deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Huntsville

James Hermelyn was all over the ice for the Midland Flyers, as he tallied two goals in Midland's 5-2 win over the Huntsville Otters.

Hermelyn scored at 11:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Midland and again while on the power play 1:15 into the second to make the score 2-1 Midland.

The Flyers were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Midland had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Huntsville was unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Midland eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Flyers outdid their season average for goals scored. Midland has scored at the pace of 2.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Midland also got points from Darren Nesbitt, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Cam Russell, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Midland received assists from Jake Evans, who had two and Nick Heins, Sean Crowe, and Chris Goodfellow, who contributed one a piece.

The Otters' offense rang up 37 shots on the Flyers' net. Huntsville was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time.

Midland's Marco Colangelo stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Flyers registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Midland, Hermelyn was ejected from the game. TJ Sherwood rejected 41 shots on goal for the Otters. Huntsville registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Otters ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Myles Bissonette was ejected from the game.
