Fischer's big game bests Midland in 7-2 Penetang win

The Penetang Kings' Matt Fischer had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-2 win over the Midland Flyers.

Fischer's tallies came at 18:29 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Penetang and 27 seconds into the second to make the score 4-1 Penetang.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:22 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Penetang excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Kings' offense rang up 43 shots on Midland's net.

Penetang also got points from Jack Scanlan, who also racked up two goals and two assists and Jordan Schwartz, who also registered one goal and three assists. Penetang also got a goal from Nate Archer as well. In addition, Penetang received assists from Hayden Cole, who had three and Graham Haley APM, Mackenzie Bumstead, and Ty Trayner, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers were helped by Matt Smith, who tallied one goal. Smith scored 4:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Midland. Jon Meeks provided the assist. Neal Burgess also scored for Midland. Other players who recorded assists for Midland were Brandon Stratton, who had one and Steven Pickard, who had two.

Adam Redgate rejected 26 shots on goal for Penetang. The Kings totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Penetang, Ryan Hyndman was ejected from the game. Midland's Andrew Best stopped 36 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Flyers ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Midland ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Devin Coull was ejected from the game.
