Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Erin Shamrocks defeated the Huntsville Otters in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.Erin overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Shamrocks trailed 2-1 after a goal by Huntsville's Jay Dix at 10:24 in the second period. Erin tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Adam Gibson at 11:58 in the second period. The Shamrocks' penalty kill excelled, as Erin gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. The Shamrocks stifled the Otters' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Erin kept Huntsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Christianson made 40 saves on 43 shots. More assists for Erin came via Patrick Reay, who had one and Chris Grenier, who had two. The Otters excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Myles Bissonette and Noah Stevens, who each chipped in one. Tom Denstedt recorded 14 saves for the Shamrocks. Erin incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Shamrocks, Mike Fournier was ejected from the game.
