Dunnville holds on for 5-3 win against Grimsby

The Grimsby Peach Kings tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats held on for a 5-3 victory.

A goal by Trevor Smith put Dunnville up 5-1 in the second period, but Grimsby pulled to within two on Jordan McCarl's tally 14:54 into the third period.

The Jr. Mudcats' offense was sparked by Mack Steele, as he ended with four assists in a victory against the Peach Kings.

Dunnville was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

Dunnville also got points from Austin Golding, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Smith, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Dan Arrowsmith, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dunnville also got a goal from Jeff May as well. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Evan Huckalo, Evan Capobianco, and Landon Minor, who each chipped in one.

Grimsby's offense rang up 38 shots on the Jr. Mudcats' net. The Peach Kings' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Grimsby gives up 2.2 goals per game.

Grimsby additionally got points from Andrew McMurtrie, who also had one goal and one assist. Mathew Paonessa also scored for Grimsby. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Brennan Smith, who had two and Colin Wierts and Liam Bruch, who contributed one a piece.

Josh Rosettani made 35 saves for Dunnville on 38 shots. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Peach Kings' starting goalie, Mitch Mathieu, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Josh Asterino, who stopped eight shots. Grimsby incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
