Dunnville's comeback falls short, Grimsby wins 5-3

The Grimsby Peach Kings, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Grimsby and clinched a 5-3 victory.

The Peach Kings led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Grimsby's Mathew Paonessa's scored on the power play at 2:19 in the second period to put the Peach Kings up 3-0.

Grimsby got the win with help from a great game by Andrew Kolodzey, who had one goal and two assists. Kolodzey scored 7:01 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Grimsby. Colin Wierts assisted on the tally.

The Peach Kings' offense rang up 41 shots on the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats' net.

Grimsby additionally got points from Andrew McMurtrie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Paonessa, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Grimsby also had goals scored by Jarrod Peacock and Cooper Naugoris, who each put in one. More assists for Grimsby came via Damien Alfieri, who had two and Eric Cerino, Joshua Kozielski, and Curtis Jacques, who each chipped in one.

Dunnville was helped by Hayden Molen, who registered one goal. Molen scored 3:05 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Grimsby. Luke Rowe provided the assist. Dunnville also got points from Evan Huckalo, who also had one goal and one assist. Dunnville also got a goal from Jordan Bolibrook as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Mack Steele, who had two and Landon Minor and Chad Springer, who contributed one a piece.

Mitch Mathieu rejected 22 shots on goal for Grimsby. The Peach Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Grimsby, Peacock was ejected from the game. Josh Rosettani made 36 saves for the Jr. Mudcats on 40 shots. Dunnville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Jr. Mudcats ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bret Golding was ejected from the game.
