Vansickle nets hat trick, leads Port Dover to 7-4 win over Dundas

Matt Vansickle netted a hat trick to lead the Port Dover Sailors over the Dundas Blues, 7-4.

Vansickle's first goal came 10:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:49 into the second and at 1:10 into the third.

Port Dover's goal total was higher than its season average. The Sailors have scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Port Dover also got points from Colin Streutker, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Port Dover also got a goal from Mitchell Moriarity as well. More assists for Port Dover came via Reilly Wilson, who had two, Nick Deluca and Anthony Perrodou, who each chipped in one, and Shane Ruddy and Steve Parker, who contributed three a piece.

Dundas' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Blues were helped by Braxton Andrews, who tallied one goal. Andrews scored 2:03 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Dover. Kevin Jaczenko picked up the assist. Dundas additionally got points from Jaczenko, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Garret Incze, who also had one goal and one assist, and Tyler Jones, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Dundas received assists from Matt Johnson, who had two and Ryan Kapuscinski and Branden Graffi, who each chipped in one.

Nathan McKinnon made 21 saves for Port Dover on 25 shots. The Sailors incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brock Novak rejected 23 shots on goal for Dundas. The Blues incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dundas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cody Carey was ejected from the game.
