Grimsby outlasts Glanbrook, 4-2Glanbrook Arena Wed, Dec 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Grimsby Peach Kings gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Glanbrook Rangers. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jordan McCarl's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Grimsby was sparked by McCarl, who racked up one goal. McCarl scored 12:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Grimsby. Joshua Kozielski provided the assist. The Peach Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Grimsby additionally got points from Colin Wierts, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Grimsby also had goals scored by Nicholas Briggs and Andrew Kolodzey, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Andrew McMurtrie, Cooper Naugoris, Curtis Jacques, and Thomas Rea, who each chipped in one. Glanbrook stifled Grimsby's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rangers were helped by Derek Vanenberg, who finished with one goal. Vanenberg scored 4:45 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Chadd Edwards assisted on the tally. Brad Parish also scored for Glanbrook. In addition, Glanbrook received assists from Chris Haigh, who had one. Josh Astorino made 17 saves for the Peach Kings on 19 shots. Grimsby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Glanbrook's Matthew Venturelli stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
