Port Dover vanquishes Glanbrook in shootout, 6-5 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Dover Sailors defeated the Glanbrook Rangers in a shootout 6-5 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Glanbrook's shootout goal was scored by Brad Parish. Port Dover also got a shootout goal from Camden Freeman.

The Sailors saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Port Dover made the score 3-1 on a goal by Matt Vansickle at 19:27 in the second period. The Rangers evened things up at 5-5 on a goal by Anthony Perrodou at 19:45 in the third period.

In the losing effort, Glanbrook was sparked by Chris Haigh, who registered two goals. Haigh scored the first of his two goals at 9:24 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Parish assisted on the tally. Haigh's next tally made the score 5-4 Glanbrook with 8:47 left in the third period. The Rangers had gained a power play chance when Freeman was whistled for hooking. Nicolas Kuiper picked up the assist.

The Sailors forced Glanbrook's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Matthew Venturelli made 14 stops and Tom Acciaroli made 16. Port Dover surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Sailors average 2.6 goals per game.

Port Dover was led by Colin Streutker, who racked up one goal and one assist. Streutker scored 4:02 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Steve Parker assisted on the tally. Port Dover also got points from Ricky Johnston, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Port Dover also got a goal from Mitchell Moriarity as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Dover were Taz Myers, who had one.

The Rangers kept the Sailors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nathan McKinnon made 32 saves on 37 shots.

Others who scored for Glanbrook included Joel Tivanian, Tyler Strabac, and Derek Vanenberg, who scored one goal each. More assists for Glanbrook came via Drew Jedrzejewicz, Curtis Edwards, Jay Creen, Brandon Elliot, and Cole Anderson, who contributed one a piece.

Port Dover incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Glanbrook incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
