Popadinac lifts Chippawa over Dundas, 6-3

Behind a great game by Drew Popadinac, who had two goals, the Chippawa Riverhawks defeated the Dundas Blues, 6-3.

Popadinac found the back of the net 3:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chippawa and again while 16:42 into the second to make the score 3-2 Chippawa.

Chippawa stifled Dundas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Riverhawks forced the Blues goalie Brock Novak to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Chippawa surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Riverhawks average 3.8 goals per game.

Chippawa also got points from Curtis Sauve, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Chippawa also got a goal from Dawson Ethier as well. In addition, Chippawa received assists from Jonathan England, who had two and Luca Petriello, Michael Rogers, and Daniel Volpatti AP, who contributed one a piece.

Dundas was helped by Kevin Jaczenko, who tallied one goal. Jaczenko scored 19:39 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Others who scored for Dundas included Cody Carey and Jason Campbell, who each put in one. More assists for Dundas came via Thomas Dowling, Matt Johnson, Greg Harley, and Tyler Jones, who each chipped in one.

Colin Dunne recorded 27 saves for Chippawa. The Riverhawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Blues' Novak stopped 28 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Dundas incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
