Simcoe outlasts Chippawa, 4-2Gale Centre Thu, Nov 14, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Simcoe Storm and the Chippawa Riverhawks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Simcoe emerged with a 4-2 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jamie Kelly at 9:33 of the third period. The Storm were paced by Kelly, who finished with one goal and one assist. Chippawa was unable to stop Simcoe from sending pucks towards the net, and the Storm eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Simcoe was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on 10 chances. Simcoe also got a goal from Joel Potruff as well. In addition, Simcoe received assists from Brad Vervacke and Braedan Walker, who each chipped in one and Patrice Fozo and Braden Roberts, who contributed two a piece. The Riverhawks forced Storm's goaltenders to work without much rest, getting 44 shots and forcing 42 saves. Jordan Witt made 42 stops and Avery Allen made zero. Chippawa was helped by Dylan Lazarus, who registered one goal. Lazarus scored 3:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chippawa. Ryan Johnson picked up the assist. Joseph Costello also scored for Chippawa. More assists for Chippawa came via Jake Reeves, Michael Rogers, and Josh Gordon, who each chipped in one. The Storm incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Colin Dunne recorded 33 saves for the Riverhawks. Chippawa incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors and had no power play opportunities. The Riverhawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Shawn Epp was ejected from the game.
